Coffee grounds make up a significant part of my household compost.  It does seem to perk up the plants.

A note about those filters, though:  In places like the southeastern US where termites are plentiful, those paper coffee filters (and tea bags) may attract unwanted termites to one&#039;s compost.  A permanent metal mesh coffee filter (and loose-leaf tea) is one way around that.
