Recently, I was tipped off to the launch of Yahoo’s new Personal Finance site via an article at lifehacker. There’s a nice little review of it in their article so I took a surf over to check it out for myself.Yahoo Personal Finance

Yahoo Personal Finance is loaded with the usual array of articles, tools, calculators, and resources. While I doubt we need more finance sites on the web, there were a few features that caught my eye as unique. The “Things To Do” category offers you a list of to-do items that would be beneficial for you to do this month. For instance, in January one of the items is “Forget Resolutions, Pick Up One Good Money Habit”. I say Amen to that! Another item I liked was the Word of the Day from their glossary. So, now you can make sense of any of those financial terms that leave your head spinning.

I like the how-to guides and calculators and they have a fair amount of categories (Career & Work, Family & Home, Insurance, Taxes, Retirement, etc.). As usual, though, you’d expect that there aren’t any gay or lesbian folks using the site because Family & Home doesn’t address any GLBT specific financial considerations. It is filled instead with tips for married couples and straight families with kids. I think that is great for them, but what about us? Hey Yahoo — if you’re reading this, consider serving this large demographic with some of the talent here at Queercents. Let us be one of your expert columnists. We can not only help you but bring you a wider GLBT audience!

Goodness knows, when it comes to finances we can use as many resources as possible to educate ourselves. And, there are some really great articles on self-employment, career, and even work-life balance. It reinforces my philosophy that everything is connected and money is not just money. Certainly Yahoo has the resources to make this site content rich and timely. So, head over to Yahoo Personal Finance for a look.
