Introduction to Queercents
If this is your first visit to Queercents, then read on for a few highlights about the site. Queercents is a syndicate of LGBT personal finance writers posting daily tips and anecdotes about spending, saving, earning, investing and all things financial.
Money spends the same whether it is carried in a purse or a wallet. At Queercents, we don’t really care about sexual orientation… but at times it might impact our perspective on money and that’s something that you’ll likely never find in an issue of SmartMoney or Kiplinger’s.
It’s also worth noting that we don’t pretend to be licensed financial professionals. Most of us are working stiffs in a variety of professions just willing to share our financial quests… kind of like the money equivalent to group therapy. You can read our bios on the About Us page.
We’ve been posting since early in 2006 so we have a lot of great articles in the archives. Access this content through the search tool in the upper-right hand corner or by scrolling through the categories in the far right column.
We have a couple of regular features:
- Ten Money Questions: interviews with prominent people in the LGBT community.
- Sleeping with Money: love, relationships and money… this should be self-explanatory.
- WWYD: as in What Would You Do? Of course, Jesus is free to comment too.
- In Search of Gay Money: here we reprint advice from straight columnists by swapping out pronouns and a few other words to make it seem like the whole world is queer.
Our writers have also posted a few special series:
- Almost Debt Free: John’s series about reducing debt, followed up with the Bliss Chronicles.
- Banking, Budgets and Investing 101 for Gen Y: Elizabeth offers practical steps about the basics.
- Building Wealth Consciousness From Within: How-To series from Dr. Lana highlighting our relationship between the power of the mind and wealth.
- Career & Money: Paula’s series and fancy ebook helps readers move beyond the daily grind.
- Dating on a Budget: Tamara suggests ways to find love on a shoestring budget.
- Femme Economics: Mooreas writings for just between us girls
- God & Mammon: Aundi’s essays on god, religion and money
- Pink & Green Parenting: How-to go green without wasting greenbacks by Jennifer.

I try to play the role of fearless leader when I’m not spending money on my growing family, stalking Suze Orman or killing time on Zillow.
We hope you check back daily or better yet, please subscribe via RSS Feed (upper right hand corner) or via Email (below) for our bi-weekly newsletter. Thanks for stopping by.
