Free Air Conditioning for the Home
One of the best investments anyone can make for using their AC less and cool the house down is an Indoor/Outdoor thermometer.
I check this lil’ guy everyday:
- I check it for how to bundle up when riding my scooter
- I use it to see if the heat in the house is my imagination or not
- I also use it to keep my AC off as often as I can
This wireless version, indoor/outdoor thermometer has saved me a bundle. In the picture; the bottom temp is the indoor temp (setting in the living room) and the top one is the outdoor temp (setting on my patio). That meant all the windows were opened up and I cooled off the house.
When the above temp is higher than the lower one, then I shut things up and use an inside fan until it gets to hot (75Â ° for me) and then I turn on the AC to keep the temperature comfy.
One thing to note, early on, I walked around with the thermometer to see if any room was hotter than another and it seems to run about the same, within a 3 degree temp at most. If it was too great of a difference, I would know to keep an eye on, say, the bedroom to keep it cooler for going to bed.
So far this summer, as I hear others’ AC beasts running strong, I am happy in the knowledge that I am getting “free AC” and a natural fan blowing through my windows.
Happy Summer to you all!
