Medame X,

I am not sure how many folks are out at work but I guess this story didn't seem to explicitly state that the person was out at work.

That is an interesting question of who is closetted, though.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

hi!

really interesting post. i've been thinking a lot about class issues in dating relationships, and how they affect a lot of the ways people relate. there's a discussion on Quench (http://quenchzine.blogspot.com) about cultural aspects of class that's pretty relevant to this, too.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Its funny, but this seems like a more real dilemma than the related male/female thing. Probably because people have relationships with other people and not a political/gender stereotype.

I think its difficult to maintain equal standing in a relationship where one party has more money than the other. There end up being many unspoken expectations.

If I was giving advice to a friend, I'd probably say the sort of thing that my mum said to me in school, that they should just be themselves and not worry about fitting in.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

@ WTTO- That is interesting-- I asked someone else I know who works in banking, who was also of the opinion that there were very few non-closeted lesbians and gay men in that field, but she is straight so perhaps is not as aware of the issue. I do seem to have a number of readers who work in the finance industry so I wondered if others would weigh in with opinions...
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

I know this wasn't the focus of the post, but I think the note at the bottom is one of the most interesting parts. It's interesting that one of the comm enters actually thought there were so few lesbian investment bankers that just that information would shed anonymity. Just based on the number of lesbian i-bankers I know, I know there are too many for this to pinpoint the person.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)
