Melissa: Great post and congrats on the fitness achievements. Another thing you could add to the list is to find a buddy to motivate and help keep you accountable. I started running last year and bought two inexpensive but motivating things to spur me on with my running goals.

1. iTunes sells the Nike Treadmill Training series: Distance Challenge and Hill Repeats. I downloaded both for the price of two CDs. It's a 30-minute workout that includes a motivation voice over from some guy there to spur you on. And it really works. I used to have to stop and walk every five minutes, but now I can run continuously for 30 to 40 minutes.

2. iPod offers the Nike Plus - a gadget that plugs into the Nano and keeps track of your distance, pace, etc. Jeanine gave it to me for Christmas, but I think it runs around $30. Worth the money if you plan to start running outside at some point.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

I love your last effect the most, I think: chill out on the planning and go with it! We all need more attitudes like that around goal-setting.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)
