		<description>The other thing you need to be careful about if you consider adding your partner to the title of a home you owned before becoming partnered is the gift tax. 

Married couples and certain other specific relatives can usually be added to the title of a home without triggering those tax implications, but same sex partners aren&#039;t generally on those lists, and certainly aren&#039;t for federal tax purposes. 

You may be able to work around this restriction by refinancing and adding your partner to the mortgage as well as the title, but even that is no guarantee.
