Bronson Page is a screenwriter, art director, gay rodeo dude and keeper of LovesickBilly.com. Earlier this year, I interviewed Bronson and his husband, Sam for our Ten Money Questions series. They’re not only hunky Hollywood types (see Sam’s currency!), but thrifty too. These are his words’¦

If the economy has got you down, turn to love. There’s still a strong market for it, and it doesn’t have to break you.

1. Home movies at the museum, botanical gardens, or beach. The cameraman/subject relationship is one full of tension, and even the most bashful subject is going to reveal a wonderful, little part of himself when the camera is on him, and the memory will last a lifetime. Here’s the one I shot of Sam.

2. Order Moroccan take-out and rent Casablanca’¦ a movie-inspired theme date shows you’ve thought it out, and that’s romantic. Or perhaps lamb, fava beans, and a nice chianti?

3. Potluck for two. You make the entree, he’s got the sides. Make it an event. Use ‘˜the good china’ with candlelight in the dining room or all recycled on the beach. One’s culinary sensibility can tell you a lot about them, and you both get the great feeling for cooking for, and being cooked for’¦ no matter how good or bad it is.

4. Even the ‘˜cheap seats’ in most outdoor venues are still great. You don’t have to be up in the conductor’s grille to enjoy Bach. Cheese, salami, crackers and wine round out the night.

5. A drive-in movie. If you’re lucky enough to still have one of these near you, this is a slam-dunk. If it’s a little further out, the romantic drive might be worth it.

Have fun.
