Ha ha, Jane! I know . . . think of how I felt after writing the story. Whenever I hear the phrase "mac and cheese" I just go to another place!

Thanks for sharing your cranberry sauce recipe. It's so simple. I imagine that the oranges give the sauce a great flavor.

Margaret - yeah, pumpkin roll is pretty much the bomb. I usually wait for Christmas time to make it, but heck . . . if you want to make some for me on Thanksgiving, I'll eat it! ;^)
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

OMG I just gained five pounds reading the good recipes! Divajean makes stuffing the exact way I do! My mother used to chop up the giblets for the turkey gravy, but like you my giblets go to the cats instead.

I make my mother's fresh cranberry sauce. Everyone raves about this and it is so very simple. Ingredients are fresh cranberries and fresh oranges and sugar. I do it the old fashioned way, with a food grinder and it's not a real recipe, just one of those "to-taste" things. Grind whole oranges (skins on) alternating with cranberries, about half and half (for one small bag of cranberries, use one large orange...I suggestmaking a double recipe at minimum). After grinding, mix well and add lots of real sugar...until the mixture tastes good. Start with one measuring cup, and keep adding more little by little. Then cover and refrigerate overnight. The sugar macerates the fruit and creates a beautiful ruby red sauce that makes a great host gift in a glass jar! One slight detail, the grinding is very juicy and messy! I try to put all the orange and cranberry juices into the mix.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Pecan pie is a must have - of course pumpkin pie for sure, and then all the others including mincemeat. I try to leave room for those no matter what.
Pumpkin roll is a great treat and I'll never turn down a great cheese ball for appetizers.

Wow, Sarah! That cranberry sauce recipe sounds amazing. So much more exciting than what I typically do - which is just sugar, water, and fresh cranberries. I'm totally going to make this. I'll be the leftovers sandwiches will be so yummy!

Glad your family liked the applesauce. I've found that applesauce is a great thing to serve over pumpkin or zucchini bread that's maybe a little dry from being a few days old. The applesauce helps moisten the bread.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

I like to spice up cranberry relish by mixing
1/4 chopped cilantro,
one can of corn (drained),
one small can of green chilies,
and one can of whole berry ready made cranberry sauce.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Optional: 1/4 cup chopped red onion
The recipe is simple and gets lots of compliments. It also tastes great on leftover turkey sandwiches.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)
