Shredded paper is great for your compost bin. So I add clippings on a daily basis because I don't have any trees to produce the "brown stuff" my compost needs to fuel itself. Perhaps this is one way you could stay on top of the pile - add it to your garden. It's free mulch.

S: Their residential rate is $125 for up to 20 boxes. I caught the owner when I called and since I only had a handful of boxes, he agreed to send the truck for $75. They're coming on Friday! So true - clear the clutter - shredded or otherwise, and you'll find more room for things to develop. It's a great way to "close out" the year. MOST of my clients let the shredding stack up, even though they all claim it's fun. If the machines were quieter, we could do it while talking on the phone, but I guess we'll have to stick to quiet typing until shredders lose that horrible mulcher sound! Make it a weekly chore; DELEGATE to whomever complains about housework!

I'd be interested to hear what the mobile shredding service costs. My solution to this problem has generally been that, once a year after I finish my taxes, I take my unneeded financial papers to my parents' house and burn them in the woodstove. (Which is probably not as environmentally friendly as shredding/recycling, but at least my parents get some additional heat out of it.)
