@Serena: Thanks for your comment! I myself learn a lot from hearing and reading about other people's experiences. We gathered as much information as we could before launching into this renovation, but not a lot of my friends had stories to share. So, I figured OUR experiences could guide others a bit!

@Nina: Teehee...I love playing with illustrations! Toshi has now banned me from overseeing any future reno projects. I think I have learned my lesson, but it's true - I'd rather let things be than stir things up more. Ultimately, Toshi is the one to get things done RIGHT!
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Bradley: First of all, I love the photo illustration with the arrow... that's funny!

Second, I'm like you and Toshi is like my partner. Since I work from home, I'm typically the one around to oversee the renovations. We've lived in two homes together and after I didn't catch the mistakes at the first one, she started coming home on her lunch hour to inspect that day's work (in progress) when we moved into this house.

I would have probably lived with the uneven over hang just so I could have checked it off the list as done. But Jeanine's a perfection and like Toshi, she'd be dragging the installer back for a redo.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

OMG Bradley - reading your series has been a real eye opener. I've never done any sort of home repairs, let alone renovations. This is all really good information.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)
