Save Money When You File Your Taxes
Most of our loyal Queercents readers have probably already filed their taxes and re-invested their tax return into something boring (like student loan payments or something else responsible). But, just in case you haven’t already filed you’re taxes, here’s a little money saving help from Coupon Chief, a site that collects and verifies online discount codes. Click over to their tax page, where they’ve got coupons for filing with H & R Block, Turbo Tax, Quicken, and Tax Act.
For those of you who have already filed your taxes, how did you spend (or save) your tax return? For me, it all went into the Roth IRA.

My tax return hasn’t come yet – one of my employers traditionally waits until the last day of January to mail their W2s out.
I plan on using it to pay for French class, a new tattoo, and the rest into savings. Because it really was that large of a return (for a combo of reasons, none of which was me voluntarily withholding that much).

I used to do my taxes in February, but since Pam and I have gotten married, it’s become quite the hassle- and a great task to avoid as long as possible! We file as a married couple in Massachusetts, but our Federal taxes must still be filed separately.

Part went to getting the doors & windows weatherized, getting more insullation in the attic, and getting the A/C serviced. The rest went back into savings to replenish the money for a second parent adoption and give us some cushion for my partner staying home with the kids.

Serena: For the first time, I’m actually filing an extension this year – this will give us time to finalize Sam’s adoption, get his social security number and allow me to file as Head of Household… a nice perk as a new parent and being “considered unmarried” by the federal government.

I just used the refund to pay off my car. It’s a hybrid.
