Dating on a Budget: For Singles Only!
Last weeks post showcased how people can date themselves, thereby immediately reducing dating costs by 50%. This week, I would like to encourage “all my single” people to have fun together at a Singles Only Party. Who said dating was only for couples?
All you have to do to get this party underway is to invite your single friends. Have them invite their single friends and so forth. Of course, depending on the space, you will want to put a limit on the number of people you invite. Having a barbeque, a day at the beach, or even getting together at a bar is also an option.
If you do decide to go to a venue, and there is a cost involved, be sure to ask if a group rate is available. If you go with having the party in someone’s home, I encourage you to have a potluck. A potluck is when everyone brings a drink, food item, or any of the necessary paper products. This offsets the cost and you are guaranteed to like something at the party.
Also, put someone in charge of games. Group games are great but card games will also prove fun. A good game of UNO has always put folk at ease. Poker, gin rummy, spades and the card games we know and love are also great conversation starters. Oh you don’t know how to play? Well that sweetheart over there winning all of the hands will be more than happy to give you a few lessons.
Last week Elizabeth commented about going to her first lesbian bar by herself. And I got to thinking, going places where there will be new people and new faces will help you to loosen up and be even more charming. The goal for the Singles Only Party is to get everyone enjoying the conversation, each other, and hopefully somewhere during the day a love connection will ensue.
Tamara, this post made me think of the party Charlotte throws on Sex and the City where she tells people to bring someone they don’t want to date anymore. “Another woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure.” ;^)
Tamara: I’m reading Tim Ferriss’ book and at one point he talked about Eye Gazing parties for single people. Now that’s a strange way to spend an evening with your single friends… but apparently it’s all the rage in NYC.
