Queercents introduces Ashley A. Wilson
Since the inception of Queercents, I’ve had the opportunity to interview a few prominent trans people: Donna Rose, Jamison Green, Christine Daniels, and Jennifer Boylan; and each time, I’ve been fascinated with how finances play a role in the trans community. Whether dealing with employment discrimination (often leading to unemployment or underemployment) or less subtle issues around the cost of transitioning, these are money challenges unique to our transgender friends.
This is why I’m thrilled to announce that Ashley A. Wilson has joined Queercents to help address the needs of the trans community with her personal and relevant posts about finances. Ashley is a fundraising and development consultant serving not-for-profit organizations. She’s self-employed (currently as Principal of Ashley Associates, LLC) and has nearly 25 years experience in the field, working at such institutions as the Devereux Foundation, the Albert Einstein Healthcare Foundation and Fox Chase Cancer Center.
She has a BS in Journalism from Temple University and an MS in Library and Information Science from Drexel University. Born in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Ashley is a lifetime resident of the Delaware Valley and lives in the house she grew up in. Please welcome her to Queercents!
Welcome to Queer Cents. I, too, am a librarian. I currently live in the land of Fred Phelps. His “cult” pickets our library once a week on Wednesdays.
