Queercents on Marketplace Money
On Friday’s Marketplace Money, Host Tess Vigeland and Economics Editor Chris Farrell answer questions about how same-sex couples should handle assets and protect retirement money from over-taxation.
Farrell points the listener to, ‘œa pretty good web site which I’ve only recently been spending some time on called Queercents.com.’ Nice to hear we’re noted as a resource in the Getting Personal part of the program.
To catch it, be sure and click the ‘œListen to this Story‘ button for just that segment, rather than the ‘œListen to the Show’ button. Hat tip to Dana at Mombian for catching this on NPR and letting me know.
And while we’re on the subject of money segments, if you like podcasts, Trent at The Simple Dollar, lists several money podcasts that he listens to (as well as a few other suggestions from his commenters) including: Planet Money, Marketplace and Marketplace Money. All worth a listen.

I have been listening to Marketplace Money (an hour long weekend show on personal finance) and Marketplace (a half-hour long show every weekday on business and economy) for years, and I have enjoyed how it presents usually heavy topics in a light way.
The financial advisor who recommended Queercents has a segment in each Marketplace Money show when he answers listeners questions, and I think he is a likable guy. I liked him just a little bit more when he seemed to acknowledge how silly it is for married same sex couples to face a patchwork of rules in different states, whether the couple was married abroad (like this caller was), or in the U.S.
They’re good shows. Listen to them.
P.S. Marketplace is from American Public Media, not NPR. Although it is usually heard on NPR member stations, which gets into the complicated web of public radio. That’s a topic for another blog comment.
That’s how I found your site, it was mentioned on the radio over the weekend.
Very cool! Go Queercents!
I heard about you on Money Matters, too. I told my sister about you. I’m hoping this site will help her plan her life with her mate and protect her mate should she pass on.
OK. Got the name wrong… Marketplace Money.
