Here is what I realized this week: if someone made a movie of my life, they’d just shoot the whole thing on the train. It’s not that all the important things that happen to me happen on the Metro, but I’m always taking it to or coming home from the important things, and all the processing or crying or text messaging or tipsily telling strangers about my day (yep) happens on the train. Like the scene in Unfaithful where Diane Lane giggles and cries on the train… except that’s kind of my entire life.

Ah, the Metro. I usually call it the luxury subway when I come down from NYC to visit my brother’s family. People who don’t do public transportation are really missing something in their lives… (and not just odd smells and really, really bad amateur musicians)….
