Queercents Weekly Roundup: Ted Kennedy, Apropos of Nothing
So do you think the reason Ted Kennedy refused to look up from his copy of the text during the State of the Union was that he knew the cameras would be on him, and keeping his head down is the only disrespect anyone is possibly allowed? Or was he actually reading along? Or asleep? Or, possibly, was he flasking it with some fine aged scotch to play the SOTU drinking game and made the terrible mistake of choosing one where he had to drink on the word “tax”?
- An interesting analysis of the financial consequences of “looking old” for women. Although, there’s only so much “Sure its unfair and oppressive but that’s how it is, so deal with it” I can handle at once. (Read it at My Open Wallet)

- How to save on everything. (Read it at Lazy Man and Money)
- In particular, you can save by buying used–which is also socially and ecologically responsible, though he doesn’t mention that. (Read it at Clever Dude)

Queercents Rehash: Where Does Your Money Go?: On the theme of something completely different….
That Ted… He’s a real partier. I like him.
Thanks for the highlight. I definitely had the social responsibility aspect in mind while writing, but since the article is about saving money, I left it out.
Honestly, one main reason I buy used is because there’s too much stinkin junk in the world right now. Just because it’s there and it’s new doesn’t mean it needs to be bought. Send the message to the manufacturers to stop flooding us with so much new crap when there’s so much good used crap lying around!
