Two Brains are better for Saving Money
Surfgirl and I are bringing her sister and niece to visit us for a week and while they are with us we plan on doing quite a few things, mostly in the mountains. So we tried to decide how we were going to get around, immediately, we figured we would rent an SUV to drive into the mountains, cause you never know when it will snow.
We checked them out and the cheapest one was about 475 dollars. Just getting close to 500 dollars for a 10 day rental was making me very nervous. I didn’t like dumping that much money on a vehicle to travel around when I had a perfectly fine car, mostly within the city limits. And that doesn’t even include filling up the tank.
Of course, surfgirl, understanding my nervous laughter, came up with an alternative:
*We us the existing car (Saturn)
*I will suffer in the back seat with the front seat pushed all the way back to accommodate said guests
*We will get new tires on the our car (which we need anyway this year)
*We don’t spend extra money we don’t need to
* This leaves us more money when they come out to stay
Bingo! Thank God for understanding partners who are creative as well!
