Target’s recent progressive actions from ad campaigns, bathrooms, gender neutral toy sections, and celebrating gay pride have really stood out the past year. So much that it’s enraging homophobes and they are claiming it’s causing a massive backlash. Fake News sites such as World Net Daily (WND) seem to claim that Target’s progressive bathroom policies are hurting their sales.

WND, a biased Fake News site ran a post stating:

Despite the drastic financial blowback Target Corporation has been weathering since announcing its plan last year to allow men to enter women’s bathroom facilities, the retail giant is continuing full-speed ahead in its pursuit of LGBT social activism, all in the name of ‘œinclusivity.’

For the second year, Target is using a #TakePride hashtag on social media to promote its rainbow-themed online merchandise. The retailer’s ‘œpride’ paraphernalia include tee-shirts, swim trunks, flip-flops, headphones, iPhone cases and an assortment of other products emblazoned with LBGT logos.

‘œTarget said it missed its 2016 Incentive EBIT [earnings before interest and taxes] goal of $5.74 billion by $623 million and fell short of its adjusted sales target of $71.62 billion by $2.13 billion,’ Reuters reported last week.

In contrast, rival Wal-Mart Stores gave CEO Doug McMillon a 13 percent pay hike, following strong sales performance at the world’s largest retailer. A number of retailers, including Wal-Mart, have policies similar to Target’s, however, they have refrained from publicizing them.

It is true that we have seen many hopeful  headlines in the past few years that say things such as “Walmart Gets Perfect LGBT Score From Human Rights Campaign” in contrast to the headlines before such as “Target Makes Gay Marriage Support Official After GOP Donation Gaffe.” Target stores have not always been on  the right side of history but they are this time around.

WND also goes on to say that:

  • Target came under criticism in August 2014 for signing onto an amicus brief to redefine marriage (in the 7th Circuit).
  • It was among the first companies to advertise a homosexual ‘œwedding registry’ in 2012.
The same year Target exploited its clothing lines to propagandize the LGBT agenda, selling ‘œLove is Love’ tee-shirts to raise money for a group working to defeat a same-sex marriage ban in Minnesota.
  • In August 2015, Target eliminated ‘œboys’ and ‘œgirls’ signs from its toys and bedding departments to transcend ‘œunnecessary’ gender stereotypes and rid its toy departments of anything that could reflect ‘œgender.’
  • Target declared support in September 2015 for the ‘œEquality Act,’ which ensures that religious freedom bows to the LGBT agenda.

We are glad to see Target stand up for LGBT rights but they are not as aggressive as WND points out. Target and Walmart have both stepped up to the plate. If these homophobic groups want to boycott  every retailer that supports gay rights then they may be better off living far off the grid and making their own goods.   The great thing about it is their article refers to Target as Targay. We kinda love it. I am filling up my Cartwheel as we speak!
